Dr. Wayne W.Dyer is an author of many best-seller books, a speaker, and a pioneer in the field of self-development, called “the father of motivation” by his fans.

One of his books I recently read is “Happiness is the way”. This book wraps up with a few questions that really help me shape up and focus on what values I’m actually chasing in this life. I want to share it here with you all and hope that they might help you in some ways too.

  1. If you suddenly discovered that you had six months to live, how would you change your life?

This is a good question. Would you still live the same as it is? What would you change? Would you still do the same job? Who would you want to spend more time with?

Have you ever actually asked yourself this kind of question?

Does your career, your money, your house, or your luxury car… matter at this time?

People these days are busy chasing the materials world. They work so hard until their bodies could not stand until their souls were broken…

But at the end of their lives, all of these things are meaningless.

You can not carry all of these. Only love, memories, and your soul will be with you forever.

Health: Perhaps the most regrettable thing that people often say “what if…” is about their health. Material things lost can be found. But when ‘Life’ lost, it’s impossible to get it back.

“When a person goes into the operating room, he will realize that there is one book that he has yet to finish reading — Book of Healthy Life.” – Steven Job’s last words.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. Treat yourself well.

It’s never a waste of time to learn about nutrition, about the food you eat, or how to cook your own healthy meal.

Spend a little time every day to do exercise, to take good care of your body.

Love: The strongest thing that is beyond death is love. Love has no limit, it travels over time and space. That is the most beautiful and powerful in humanity. It strengthens us, gives us light.

Give as much love as you could to this world, to everyone around you, to all other creatures to harmonize hatred, violence. Giving more.

Spend as much meaningful time as you could with the one you love.

Follow your bliss:

What makes your soul smile? Everyone has their own intellect, listen to your inner signals, you will know what should do to make your soul happy. As Oprah Winfrey stated:

“How do you know whether you’re on the right path? The same way you know when you’re not: You feel it. Each of us has a personal call to greatness – and because yours is as unique as your fingerprint, no one can tell you what it is…

Your life is speaking to you every day, all the time – and your job is to listen up and find the clues. Passion whispers to you through your feelings, beckoning you towards your highest good. Pay attention to what makes you feel energized, connected, and stimulated – what gives you your juice. Do what you love, give it back in the form of service, and you will do more than succeed. You will triumph.”

So ask yourself this question, whatever answer comes into your mind, go for it.

  1. How would you describe yourself, if you could not use any labels?

If someone asks us “Who are you?”. Most of the answers you hear will be “I’m ‘your name’. I’m ‘your occupation’. I’m from ‘your place’ …

Most of us identify ourselves with forms and names. But…

We’re not our name. We can have many names we want in this life.

We’re not our bodies. Our bodies will change every single second, it’s growing and getting old, not the same every single day. But every moment we look at our pictures from kids, adults, old..completely different looks but we all say that ‘it’s me’. So who are you? You are these different looks of the body or you are something inside these looks that have not changed over time? Definitely, our bodies are not us.

We’re not our occupation either.

We’re not our relationships

We’re not our countries, our race, our religions,…

We’re not our achievement.

The fact that most of us today define who we are and how well we are doing based on very artificial criteria like how much money we make, how much stuff we have, what position we are, what achievement we have so far?

“When success is no longer measured by how you’re serving others but how much you’re getting for yourself, it can turn into an obsession.” – Wayne W.Dyer.

When it becomes an obsession, it is never enough. You work so hard to earn a house, then another one, then a car, and a more luxury car…and it never ends, you always want more. But at the end of the day, after achievement so many external awards, so many material things, you will discover there is an emptiness to all of it.

Knowing “who you are” like knowing what you’re here for, and how you’re going to live this life you have in the service of others. But it doesn’t mean that you will be no longer doing whatever for a living, just doing your best with no attachment to those artificial criteria. You will be a peace of mind, in real happiness and love for what you are doing, and definitely all the successes will come to you.

“Success is not the key to happiness.

Happiness is the key to success.

If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” – Albert Schweitzer.

All you have to do is to be always looking inside, listening to your inner signals. Everyone is unique in this world, has different purposes in this life, finding your gifts, and contribution it to the world.

If you still don’t know what your inner calling is, finding it is a reason for you in this life as Oprah Winfrey used to say: “Have the courage to follow your passion and if you don’t know what it is, realize that one reason for your existence on earth is to find it.”

Keep asking yourself and find the answers to these 2 questions. It will guide you to the right path –  the path to real happiness, peace, freedom, and absolute Truth.
